Begin this tour at the base of the two long escalators on B1 level in the City Hall Wing of the National Gallery. From the Gallery's Coleman St entrance, these can be found by going down the escalator or stairs in the Atrium, and then immediately through to the right of the entrance to the Concourse. From other directions, the location is adjacent to the extreme end of the B1 Concourse in the City Hall Wing.

Ka Wai holds a Master of Fine Arts (Playwriting) from Taipei National University of the Arts and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours (Chinese Studies) from National University of Singapore. His recent theatre projects include What If (M1 Peer Pleasure Youth Theatre Festival 2020), Self Portrait: A Performative Tour (Light to Night Festival 2020), 《出嫁前夕》Eve of the Wedding Day (春花齐放2020 Rhapsodies of Spring 2020), The ‘d’ Monologues: A Lecture-Performance by Kaite O’Reilly (Singapore Writers Festival 2019), A Grinder’s Diary (a work-in-progress by Access Path Productions and Pitapat Theatre) and Because it’s Fun (The Fool Theatre). He also teaches Chinese at Sprout Language Centre and is the drama instructor for Nanyang Junior College, Chinese Cultural Society. Under Access Path’s education and outreach platform, Ka Wai conducts Disability Awareness Through the Arts (DATA) training and playwriting workshops with Disabled and non-disabled youths and adults. With Grace Lee-Khoo and Ng Mun Poh, he co-created and wrote Set Sail! – an intergenerational site-specific theatre commission by the National Museum of Singapore.

Glimpse 1: Tung Kawai

The location for Natsume's Glimpse film is in an alcove just off the Singapore Courtyard, in the City Hall Wing. To reach it from Tung Ka Wai's Glimpse, take the upward escalator to the second floor and the Singapore Courtyard. At the top of the escalator, go to the left into the Singapore Courtyard, and cross to the far corner on your right. The alcove is behind the corner wall, with an entrance on either side.

Glimpse 2: Natsume

The location for the third Glimpse, Ramesh's, is in the historic City Hall Chamber. From Natsume's Glimpse you can walk up the wide wooden staircase in the Singapore Courtyard, to the triple doors of the Chamber. Another option is to take the lifts, on the same side of the Courtyard as the Escalator you came up, to the third floor. From here, turn along the walkway which runs along the elevated side of the Singapore Courtyard. Once at the Chamber, the Glimpse location is just inside, facing the wooden doors on the immediate right hand side.

A Glasgow-based Singaporean, Ramesh Meyyappan is a theatre maker who develops performances using an eclectic mix of visual and physical theatre styles. Ramesh continually seeks to develop and extend his theatrical visual vocabulary, for example incorporating circus techniques, bouffon, puppetry and illusion within his work. He enjoys the challenge of creating strong narrative visual work. Over the years, his solo performances and collaborations have toured nationally and internationally (over 20 countries) to much critical acclaim. He has been nominated five times for Best Actor at the Life! Theatre Awards (Singapore) and awarded the accolade twice. Ramesh is an associate artist of Raw Material and represented by Brennan Artists as an actor. Glimpse 3: Ramesh Meyyappan

The last Glimpse is also located in an impressive and historic space: the Supreme Court Foyer. The Glimpse was filmed from the upper level of the space, at the top of the main stairs, looking down through the open ceiling to the Foyer floor below. To reach the Supreme Court Foyer from the City Hall Chamber there are a number of possible routes. We recommend that you return along the Singapore Courtyard walkway, on the same level as the Chamber, then continue across the Lower Link Bridge to the Supreme Court Wing. There, continue straight through the exhibition spaces until you come to a new corridor with a distinctive black and white tiled floor. Turn left along this corridor, through the glass doors at the end you will be in the upper part of the Supreme Court Foyer, where the Glimpse was filmed. The viewing location is at the parapet, at the centre point of the longer side through which you came through the glass doors - looking down through the gap to the steps of the Foyer below.

Wheelsmith is an award winning Music Producer, Rapper and wheelchair rugby player for Team Singapore. He is particularly drawn to rapping as “music allows me to be fearless and brazen”. He performed with local celebrities for the President’s Star Charity in 2016 and made his debut as a sound engineer, composing soundscape and performing for the theatre production And Suddenly I Disappear: The Singapore/UK ‘d’ Monologues. An international Unlimited Commission, the work travelled to Singapore and different parts of the UK. Wheelsmith was completely immersed in the lengthy process between September 2017 to September 2018 and his artistry travelled to London, Leicester, Oxford and Cardiff, Wales. Having worked with world-famous director Phillip Zarrilli intensively, Wheelsmith has been described as a unique performer with his powerful stage presence and instinctive lyricism in his delivery of lines. Since then he has gone on to serve as Sound Designer for Not in my Lifetime? by The Finger Players. He was also a performer and musician at the 2019 National Day Parade. In 2019, he released his debut single Vanilla on various high profile platforms such as Spotify and Apple. Wheelsmith collaborated with Access Path for the Light to Night Festival 2020, starring in the National Gallery commission Self Portrait, a performative tour crafted as a visitors’ response to the photography of Cultural Medallion winner Chua Soo Bin. Under Access Path Productions’ education and outreach platform, Wheelsmith conducts inclusive sound design and music-making (rap, hip hop and beat-boxing) workshops with youths and adults of all abilities.
